Get pouty : Review of Brave by MAC

I know, I know. You've probably had enough of all the reviews about lip products. But I can't help it, I love my lippies.
I was dying of boredom and thought what better place for me to take refuge other than my blog? I had no idea whatsoever about what I was going to talk about until I thought of this new member in my cosmetics family.

A few weeks ago, I paid a visit to MAC along with a bag filled with empty products. Yes, I was "backing to MAC" for the first time!

For those who are not familiar with the "Back 2 MAC" program, it's basically you return six empty containers from MAC in exchange with a free lipstick. I have to admit, the feeling when you get a lipstick for free is pretty awesome. It's like christmas all over again. Such a child.

Of course, I raced to the MAC counter knowing which shade I was going to get: Brave.

Before starting the actual review, I just wanted to say that for the past couple of months I've been searching for the perfect shade of lipstick which I cannot describe, but the color is in my head. Unfortunately Brave wasn't the one. But I loved it anyway.

On the website, MAC describes it as a "pink-beige with white pearl". I am literally in love with this color! But, there is something quite curious about this shade: sometimes it looks dark and sometimes it looks a bit more bright. Weird, isn't it? The "white pearl" is present, but unnoticeable. I'm serious. You would think it's a "matte" finish if you haven't read "satin" on the back of the tube. Anyway, the color is perfect for any kind of occasion.

MAC has a huge range of shades when it comes to lipsticks, some are amazing and yet others are a bit disappointing. Despite the fact that I wear that every time I go out and love it, I'm still not 100% convinced that Brave is THE lipstick to own. Now, don't get me wrong, it glides on perfectly and the color is divine. However, after 3 hours if not less, the product tends to set on the lips and creates weird white stuff - which I feel ridiculous for not knowing the name of - on the outer-corner of the lower lip, along the line that connects both lips. Does that make any sense to you? I hope so. So I guess this is the only con.

In normal daylight: heavy swatch; light swatch

Under sunlight

Truth is, I have been loving this one. Been wearing it for the past month or so. It's great for everyday. As I said about this lipstick, I never really saw any videos or posts about it. It definitely needs a bit more hype. Don't you think?

I hope this post didn't bore as much as I am right now. I'm so unmotivated to do anything. Call me lazy bum!

Have you ever tried this color? What do you think? Did you go through the same problem as I did?

    1. It's the only MAC lipstick that has done that to me. Such a shame.
